You’ve got questions, friend – and I’ve got answers!
(Usually. We’ll play it by ear.)
Here are some common ones.
Do you offer Telehealth sessions?
I do offer Telehealth therapy sessions for California clients, yes! In fact, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I’m currently only offering Telehealth sessions via secure, HIPAA-compliant software until it’s safe to see my patients in person again.
To inquire about scheduling a Telehealth appointment as a California resident, please visit my contact page.
What does Inviterra mean?
In naming my practice, I’ve combined the words “invite” and “terra.” Terra is the Latin word for “land” or “earth.” And at Inviterra Counseling, I want you to feel invited – welcomed, supported, and embraced – as well as grounded, like you have a safe place to land. (Because you do!)
What is an Enneagram therapist? Do you do Enneagram coaching?
Enneagram coaching, Enneagram consulting, Enneagram therapy or counseling... I’ve heard them all.
And good news – I do them all, too!
The biggest difference between any of these terms is (to get technical) the time commitment involved and how deep you want to dive into learning about the Enneagram.
An Enneagram therapy program uses the Enneagram as a framework for understanding yourself and the ways in which you interact with the world around you. We’ll use the Enneagram as a frame of reference to address issues and events in the past that are holding you back.
As an Enneagram therapist, I’ll work with you to leave unhealthy and unhelpful patterns in the dust! We’ll replace them with healthier habits that let you live a richer, fuller, more present and fulfilling life.
Enneagram coaching and consulting are shorter-term approaches that serve as an introduction to the Enneagram model, as well as provide a basic introduction to your Enneagram type and what that means.
Is Brainspotting the same as EMDR?
Though similar, Brainspotting therapy is not the same as EMDR.
I am not currently offering EMDR therapy, but you can learn more about my Brainspotting therapy practice here.
Is it weird to need couples counseling in your 20s?
It is absolutely not weird to need or want couples counseling in your 20s. In fact, I think it shows a really admirable commitment to learning about and maintaining good communication between you and your partner. And that’s exactly what marriages need to last.
Check out what couples therapy entails and get in touch to schedule a consultation.
I look forward to meeting you!
How do I know we’re a good fit?
I fully believe that the relationship between client and therapist is the most important factor in the success of any therapy program. So I love that you’re asking this question!
Clients need to feel safe and heard. They need to trust their therapist enough to be open and honest. If you can feel those things while we’re working together, then that bodes well for the outcome!
But hey, we haven’t started yet, right? So in the meantime, learn more about me and how I work to get a sense for my therapy style.
Do you specialize in therapy for Millennials?
I do! I love providing therapy for Millennials, as well as Gen Z. I feel like I best relate to and can help guide younger and emerging adults through the unique challenges this time of life (during this time in history!) presents.
Will therapy work for me?
I honestly think therapy is a great choice for the vast majority of people. Most of us can benefit from a relationship with a therapist who’s a good fit for us! It’s just a matter of determining which approach is most appropriate for your needs.
All that’s required is a desire for growth and a commitment to put in the work necessary to meet your goals. If you’ve got those, therapy is definitely worth a try!
How long does therapy last?
How long you’re in therapy depends almost entirely on your unique needs and goals, as well as the type of therapy you’re pursuing. For example, Premarital Therapy tends to have a defined beginning and end – it usually lasts between eight and ten weeks. Enneagram Coaching, on the other hand, might only last a couple of sessions.
Broader Enneagram therapy, Brainspotting therapy, couples therapy, or individual therapy can last as long as it takes for you to feel like it’s been a success, and you’re ready to move on.
What should I expect from my first therapy session?
In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know one another and laying the foundation for our work together. This includes discussing your goals for therapy and your personal history, as well as going over necessary paperwork and talking about scheduling.
What’s your payment policy?
I accept a variety of payment options, like credit or debit cards, checks, and cash. Payment is due at the end of each session, unless we’ve agreed on a different structure. You can read more about my policies and procedures here.
Do you accept insurance?
No. I’m an out-of-network provider and don’t bill your insurance company. This doesn’t necessarily mean insurance won’t cover our work together – it just means you’ll need to figure that out with them directly. You can read more about session fees and how I bill here.
What happens if I cancel?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, I totally understand! Please let me know at least 24 hours ahead of your scheduled appointment time to avoid being charged for the missed session. You can read more about my policies and procedures here.
Where are you located?
Inviterra Counseling is located at 14639 Big Basin Way, Suite C, Saratoga, California. You can find directions here.
I also offer Telehealth sessions via secure, HIPAA-compliant software for California clients.
Is your office accessible?
My office does not currently offer elevator access – but don’t let that stop you from reaching out! I’m committed to providing accommodation via online therapy sessions.
I’m ready to schedule a therapy session. How do I start?
Great news, friend! To schedule an initial consultation, visit my contact page and fill out the interest form. You’ll hear back from me within 24 hours to set up your first appointment and answer any questions you might have.
I can’t wait to meet you!
DID I ANSWER ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS?
